The College Station Cougars extracted some revenge from last season's season-opening loss to Rosenberg Terry with a 45-0 blowout in a game decided by halftime Friday at Cougar Stadium. It was also the school's first shutout in football.

Even missing the majority of the Cougar offense lost to graduation and missing some returners due to injury, College Station's offense looked in midseason form, scoring 24 points on its first nine plays.

Reece Easterling started for the injured Ty Brock at quarterback, and the offense didn't miss a beat in his first varsity game. He completed 15 of 19 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns, and two of the incompletions came on the first drive of the game. Chris Monroe carried the ball eight times for 119 yards and three touchdowns while only playing in the first half.

Terry quarterback Vonte Davis completed 3 of 6 passes for 51 yards with an interception. Brandon Foster rushed the ball 11 times for 38 yards, a huge change from the first game last year when Terry had 408 yards rushing in the Rangers' 35-19 win.

The Cougar special teams gave the ball back to its offense in great field position when Cedrick Williams blocked Davis' punt, which allowed the Cougars to set up shop at the Ranger 36-yard line.

Easterling's first pass found a wide open Glover for 16 yards, but the Terry defense stiffened, leading to a Ryan Bowersox 37-yard field goal for 3-0 Couger lead.

Davis fumbled the first snap on the next drive, and KeKe Anderson recovered the ball at the Cougar 44. Easterling needed just one play to score, finding an open Glover who did most of the work on the 54-yard run and catch. After he split the safety and cornerback, he took it down the left hashmark untouched for a 10-0 lead.

Again a turnover spelled doom for Terry. Starting at their own 7 after a penalty on the kickoff return, Brandon Foster fumbled at the 4, and College Station recovered at the 8. Monroe needed just one play to score, charging up the middle for a 17-0 lead.

The Cougar defense continued to dominate the line of scrimmage and forced a three-and-out on Terry's next possession. A short punt set up the College Station offense at the Terry 35. Monroe took a draw play 12 yards up the middle on first down, and did even better when the coaches called the same play from the 23. He sprinted nearly untouched up the middle, and the two-play drive gave the Cougars a 24-0 lead with 3:39 to play in the first quarter.

Terry responded with its first sustained drive of the night, grinding out a ground attack that moved the Rangers from their 25 to the College Station 39. On fourth-and-6, Davis scrambled away from the rush and heaved a desperation pass down to the 3 where a poorly timed jump gave JaMarcus Jones a chance to bring the ball down for a 36-yard reception. The Rangers couldn't stand the prosperity, and Foster again coughed up the ball, which the Cougars pounced on at the 1.

Easterling missed Glover deep on first down, but Monroe burst up the middle on back-to-back carries for 27 yards before Easterling connected with Glover on a slant pattern for 12 more. Easterling hit Braden Tschirhart on two seam patterns that opened up the outside for a completion to White for a 35-yard touchdown that saw him spin away twice from Ranger defenders before sprinting away for the score.

Monroe ended the first half scoring on a 19-yard touchdown run up the middle that capped a 62-yard drive.

Chris Sennette started the second half at running back, and the Cougar rushing attack didn't miss a beat. The offense faced a fourth-and-1 at the 49 when Easterling drew the Ranger defense offsides with a hard count. Easterling then swung a pass out to Sennette for a first down before picking up Williams on a comeback route deep down the sideline to the 25. Easterling electrified the crowd when he kept the ball on a rollout and rumbled down to the 1. Sennette capped the scoring with a 1-yard dive into the end zone.
